    CAPTAIN'S BALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The captain’s ball championship league has officially concluded with a BANG on the 19th of August after a 3 weeks break since the first half was completed.

Kicking start to a new championship beginning back at the same venue in Simei. New teams came together to get to know each others and to recognize the team players. Throughout the matches, there were good support games being executed, good defense and attack strategies drawn, there were shrieking and cheering in court and outside as well, and not forgetting that memorable long throw from David to Enke and soon everyone else followed suit :D

Although halfway through the game it started to rain.. but thank God for sheltered courts - The mega umbrella that kept us all dry. =) the games carried on til we completed the league and drew it to a close with a male “all stars” match. At the end of it all, we had a mini birthday celebration for Judith whose birthday was the next day. Happy birthday Judith! And wrapping up the events.. would be non other than the prize-giving ceremony!!!!

The defending MVPs and top scorer no more, but in place are new MVPs and new top scorers! CONGRATULATIONS to…
The new MVP female : Judith
The new MVP male : Kenneth
The new top scorer female : Yun Han

LOYALTY - By Pastor Phil Pringle

    Quote -
'Lincoln could find only one general who would do what he wanted. On March 10, 1864, he appointed Ulysses S. Grant general-in-chief of the army.'
    - Lincoln on Leadership, Executive Strategies for Tough Times by Donald T. Phillips, Warner Books, 1992.

    Hi, I'm Phil PringleYou're going to love this;

    Give loyalty to the worthy.

Reward, inclusion, acceptance and honour, all engender loyalty.

    Unrecognised loyalty engenders disloyalty.

Lack of any of these when deserved, engenders disloyalty.

If you err at all, err on the side of generosity in recognising loyalty.

A competent but disloyal team member is a far worse curse than an average but loyal member.

There is no skill or other contribution that can atone for disloyalty.

    Stepping out with you,
    Phil Pringle

    ATTAINING GODLINESS THROUGH DISCIPLINE

9 Aug 2007. On the nation's 42nd birthday, everyone gathered for a short time of praise and preaching of the Word. Most turned up decked out in red and white. Even Joseph joined us!

Christianity is about transformation and this transformation means nothing other than becoming more like Christ. That said, transformation takes discipline. 2 Tim 3:16 - 17 says, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, ... for 'instruction of righteousness', that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." In my bible, 'instruction of righteousness' refers to training and discipline too. It is agreed in the bible that becoming more like Christ requires discipline! And in 1 Jhn 2:15 - 17 it is written, "... but he who does the Will of God abides forever." Once again, disciplne is necessary to consistently become more like Christ, that is, doing the Will of God.

So much on discipline. How do we go about doing it?

3 aspects to have discipline in:
Affection - allows us to choose who or what we will love. Mat 6:21 tells us our treasure is where our heart is. So we have to learn to love the Word and Will of God and we will place our treasure - our finances, time and thoughts on them. Learn also, to replace bad habits that are getting in our way to have affection for the things we should with good ones, because simply trying to get rid of them is way harder.

Adoption - allows us to choose what we will progress towards in our lives. Having chosen who or what we will love, we have to learn to set goals to deepen the relationship. Be it with people or learning to do something better. For example, understanding the Word of God more. The goals we set create cravings that make us want to keep going back to that person or doing the thing that we love and want to deepen the relationship with. And when we reach our goals, give recognition to ourselves! Reward ourselves with something we like, like going for cheesecake at some cafe or a round of gaming at the LAN shop. Eph 4:22

(Taking) Action. All goals are nothing without action, just like an idea in your mind is nothing without the action of speaking it forth. It might be a Nobel Prize-winning goal or idea but without action it is still nothing. Zero. Zilch. As we act on our goal continuously, it becomes a habit. And when we habitually pursue our goals, it becomes our destiny. Pastor Kong once mentioned that it takes at least 3 weeks of repeatedly doing something for it to become a habit. Maybe some of us haven't been punctual, for school, for service... Or maybe some of us haven't been reaching out to our family, friends and relatives. For all we know, we might be the only Christian they know. Doesn't the thought of them going to hell scare you? Today, decide to take action, to make it a habit and it shall become a destiny.

For bodily exercise profits a little, but Godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
    1 Tim 4:8

    TRANSITION TO SIGHT

No, I'm not talking about the contact lenses that help you see well. Although you can’t help but notice that everyone in the cell group is going through a transition.

What do I mean by transition? Some are: starting their University life, closing in their secondary school year, going to work, going NS, getting married =P and everything else. Every one of us will go through changes in this very period that would shape us for the future.

To some people transition is that door we don’t want to open often fearing what is before them – the unknown. But to us Christians, it means more than just a seasonal change. It’s another step closer to our destiny, one step closer to our dreams. An obstacle we will cross, and out of the valley victorious. I’m sure we all have had past victories and we look back and say “But God still saves the day” then we move on knowing that the next stumbling block is nothing when God is on our side.

So W115! Lets encourage each other along the way. Because we know that during this time of transition, its not going to be easy. But we can help our brothers and sisters to go through smoothly. Lets also not forget to keep pressing on when we find it hard to spend time with God because of any work or time consuming things. We have one heart already and we need one journey and one purpose together. So why not send an SMS or Email of encouragement to your ever changing members!

Lets travel out together and like what David's shirt says

"THE ROAD IS LONG, SO WHAT?"

    Keep on Keeping on!
